A LITTLE ABOUT US
Empowering Authors, Publishing Dreams
Who is Anatolian Press?
Well, let’s start with the name: Anatolian Press.
After our brand new pup, Atticus, passed away from a rare disease that attacked his intestines, we were devastated. He was the perfect pup, and he was only 6 months old. Even more devastated than us, though, was his twin sister, Lucatiel, who lost her brother and her best friend.
Still reeling from Atti’s death, we were not at all prepared to bring another pup home, but seeing Luca wandering alone, head down and distant, we knew that we had to get her a buddy.
Enter Bear! Our first experience with the Anatolian Shepherd. We had never even heard of the breed before that.
Bear quickly became Luca’s best friend and the love of our lives. He was warm, happy, loved EVERYONE, and guarded Luca and our children like they were his own… because they were.
The Anatolian Shepherd is a fiercely loyal and sympathetic beast. It is a warrior and a protector, highly intelligent and as strong physically as it is emotionally.
Bear encompasses everything that I want to be.
So what better name for my company than that?
And who am I?
My name is Micah. I am the author of the bestselling book 𝙐𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙣 𝙇𝙚𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨, 𝙂𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙡𝙠𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙚. I am currently writing volume II of ULGSaF and working on an anthology based on terrifying tales set in my favorite time of the year: Autumn!
I have written 19 published articles, developed 2 Apple Top 100 podcasts in the last 2 years, and have over 15 years of writing experience, including myriad white papers and technical documents within a multistate healthcare system. I also have 20 years of audio/studio experience.
Going through the process of self-publishing my first book was a headache. It was nerve-wracking! It was like making my way through a swamp infested with bad advice and wrong turns. I learned a lot. I learned so much, in fact, that I knew that I had to share it! I made it through to the other side of that quagmire and ended up on 2 #1 charts and 3 Top Ten charts on Amazon! I drew a map, marking the pitfalls and dead ends, and now I want to share that map with others.
I began by offering editing services to self-publishing authors at no charge, just to help out in any way I could. This was much more than I could take on pro bono. Editing takes hours and hours of work; reading and re-reading, referencing The Chicago Manual of Style and New Hart’s Rules – The Oxford Style Guide, color-coding, looking for inconsistencies, and even correcting spelling and grammar errors.
It was a lot of work!
I decided to start charging for these services but then realized that the one thing I wish I had when I was ready to publish was a publishing company that would walk me through it. I wanted someone who knew the ropes and had the skills to get me to where I wanted to go!
True, there are many such companies out there, but guess what… it is expensive!
I don’t have thousands of dollars to pay for all the man hours, the licensing, the artwork, the marketing, etc. that it takes to publish a book and get it noticed.
I wanted to be what Bear became to Luca, myself, and my family.
I wanted to be an advocate, a helper, a defender, and a friend.
With the Penguin Random House merger and the monopoly of the “Big 5” publishing houses, new authors are being left in the dust. There is almost no hope for a new author to be picked up by a big publisher, let alone get the support needed to endure and thrive in such a saturated market.
You will not be given a chance if you’re not “in” right now. It's as simple as that. If you are not a “commercial certainty” you might as well hang it up or self-publish.
This sounds grim at first, but let’s look at other forms of art and entertainment that used to be blocked by the almighty gatekeeper: Movies, Video Games, Music, etc. No longer are garage bands sending demos to big music companies, begging for a chance to get signed. Gone are the days of Hollywood and billion-dollar corporations deciding who and what is good enough or in.
The dinosaurs are dying!
This is where Anatolian Press and other small presses and publishing houses come in. Just like in music and movies before us - now is the time for the indie author!
Anatolian Press is dedicated to helping the indie author in every aspect, every step of the way, and at every turn. We are offering our services at a heavily discounted price point and are currently looking for new authors to come along with us as we bulldoze through the gatekeepers and take the power to whom it belongs: The author!
